better. by BlueStar is led by a father-son team, passionate about building relationships with clients to curate the best promotional marketing products made sustainably and ethically. Our expertise in environmentally friendly and socially just alternatives to traditional promotional products allows us to steer our customers toward values-aligned options that are truly better.

My job is to lead the charge and be a positive role model while imparting my industry (and life) experiences to help our current team, and others, embrace what we’re doing and why we’re doing it.
What is your favorite part about working at better.?
Doing the right thing. Being purposeful. Starting the venture with family and a couple of other team members that hold similar beliefs and values. The opportunity to grow both personally and professionally while doing things that are less damaging to the environment.
Why is it important for you to work for a purpose-driven business?
Too many organizations do too much to damage all the good in the world in their quest for profits. I believe we can be both purpose-driven and profitable at the same time. Running the business this way is very simply an extension and continuation of my everyday life, which makes it very fulfilling and rewarding.
Fran
My role is Office Manager, aka Queen "B"lueStar. It is my job to take care of anything related to money. In addition, I assist with clients when needed.
What is your favorite part about working at better.?
Every day is different. Our clients’ needs and wants are so diverse that it makes it fun to be here day after day.
Why is it important for you to work for a purpose-driven business?
I believe every business can and should make decisions that help others improve their lives and limit the long-term negative impact on our world. It is very apparent that we, as individuals and businesses, need to focus on the well-being of others and the Earth. My personal values and the values at better. are in sync. I feel, on a personal level, that I am aware of the impact my decisions make on others and the planet—and better. is aware of its impact, too.
Barb Hoffman
I spend the majority of my time handling project and order management, work on sales, and otherwise wear many hats like everyone here. I issue orders to our suppliers, handle client communications and manage orders/projects to on-time completion.
What is your favorite part about working at better.?
My absolute favorite part of working at better. is the people. We are small but mighty — friendly, caring, casual, and fun, but have each other's backs to work as a team when presented with challenges.
Why is it important for you to work for a purpose-driven business?
No person or company can be perfect all the time, but a shared spirit to act and do better is a step in the right direction and can influence others to do the same. I have resigned from jobs in the past where the company culture and values were too different from mine, and in which the attitude was not in line with how I feel products and services should be delivered. My personal value, first and foremost, is to live the golden rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. As I grow older, I am learning this motto applies not only to people but also to animals and the environment — to protect all things from harm.
Lauren
I work alongside Danny to plan and design the content you see on Instagram and Facebook! We work together to educate our fellow B Corps, as well as individuals, and businesses about making better. choices for people and the planet.
What is your favorite part about working at better.?
My favorite part about working for better. is the opportunity to enlighten myself and others about our environmental impact.
Why is it important for you to work for a purpose-driven business?
I want to work for a company whose values align with its business model. My generation is not willing to settle-- we want to know that our hard work, time, energy, and effort is making a difference.
Danny
I manage our relationships with our “positive impact partners,” such as 1% for the Planet, Climate Neutral, and B Lab. Furthermore, I ensure that our decisions are in the best interest of the planet and our community in part by researching and vetting supplier partners as well as potential clients.
What is your favorite part about working at better.?
Knowing that this company is purpose-driven and working toward changing the industry for the better. As we continue to grow, the industry will come to see us as a leader and adopt some of our practices, which will ultimately be better for the planet.
Why is it important for you to work for a purpose-driven business?
I believe all businesses should be purpose-driven. Purpose-driven companies work toward something more important than the bottom line. We have the platform to create real change within an industry that is damaging our planet. Working at better. makes living a conscious lifestyle easier because that is an essential part of our business model.
Sunny
My job is to greet everyone who comes into the building. I love my job because I get to meet so many amazing people!
What is your favorite part about working at better.?
I love that I am allowed to take naps throughout the day whenever I want! The humans I work with are so nice for letting me do that!
Why is it important for you to work for a purpose-driven business?
I am not really sure what that means but I know that I am driven to come to work so I can earn more yummy treats!
