On the Saturday following the 51st Annual Earth Day, the team from better. joined over 400 volunteers to clean up the Wissahickon Creek. Coincidentally, this was the 51st consecutive year of the non-profit organization, Wissahickon Trails’ organization of this event. This year, 425 volunteers cleaned sections of the Wissahickon Creek and its tributaries. In total, volunteers collected several hundred bags of trash and pulled items such as a mattress, 2 toilets, 30 tires, a pool floaty, and a teddy bear out of the Creek.
Our affiliation with Wissahickon Trails started in 2019 when we selected the environmental non-profit to be a recipient of our 1% For The Planet donation. Wissahickon Trails (previously known as Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association) has worked to engage diverse communities of people to protect and enjoy the land and waterways of the Wissahickon Valley for over 60 years.
As a 1% For The Planet Member, better. by BlueStar donates 1% of our revenue to an environmental non-profit of our choice. We chose Wissahickon Trails for many reasons, including their ability to bring members of the community together for the greater good. We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent cleaning up our stretch of the Wissahickon Creek. We encourage all businesses to become 1% For The Planet Members as it leads to valuable partnerships that benefit both organizations, as well as our planet.
